Virginia. He is a graduate of Huntington High School, and holds a Bachelor of Music Education from the University of Kentucky, his Air Force career began in 2000 with the Air Force Band of Mid-America, Scott Air Force Base, Illinois.

Sergeant Hornbuckle is a graduate of Huntington High School, and holds a Bachelor of Music Education from the University of Kentucky, Lexington, Kentucky, and a Master's degree in Trombone Performance from University of Louisville, Louisville, Kentucky.  Before beginning his assignment with the Band of the Golden West, he served at the Band of the Pacific-Hawaii located on Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Honolulu, HI. His professional credits include performances with Clark Terry, Bill Watrous, Stanley Turrentine, and Eddie Daniels.
