The Band of Mid-America joined forces with the USAF Band of Flight for a period authentic Glenn Miller performance this #ArmedForcesDay at the Cincinnati Reds' Great American Ball Park! Armed Forces Day also coincided with the opening of the Memphis Belle's permanent display at the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force. This display showcases the extraordnary heriosm of all the heavy bomber crews that flew over Nazi Germany during WWII. Members of the Band of Mid-America team participated in the Police Memorial 5K Fun Run this morning. This 5K honors those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice and lost their lives in the line of duty. Before the race started, participants repeated the names of fallen defenders to pushups. Airman First Class Melissa Edgmon and Airman First Class Dana Bowers were the first females to cross the finish line. Way to go airmen! #usafbands #policeweek #honor
Please join the Band of Mid-America in congratulating SMSgt Jerry Kelley on his retirement after 26 years of faithful service! During his career he has performed throughout the United States, PACAF, the Middle East, and Africa as an Air Force Bandsman and has been stationed at Langley AFB, Elmendorf AFB, and finally here at Scott AFB. Sgt Kelley, you have been an amazing mentor, First Sergeant, NCO/SNCO, guitarist and all in all a wonderful and caring person to so many of us. Congratulations!!! You will be missed!
