The Concert Band is the oldest and largest of the Air National Guard Band of the South’s performing components. Commissioned in 1973, this elite 41-member instrumental ensemble has thrilled audiences all over the southeastern United States, as well as Jamaica, the Dominican Republic, Maine and Alaska. The Concert Band presents a powerful and exhilarating program of traditional marches, symphonic masterpieces, popular music and patriotic selections which celebrate our nation, as well as the men and women who have, and are currently serving, the United States of America.
The Concert Band primarily performs free public concerts, supporting civic events and promoting the message of the United State Air Force and Air National Guard. This ensemble is also often tasked to perform for official military ceremonies. Regardless of the venue, the pageantry and professionalism of the band’s performance is sure to be entertaining and emotional for all audiences, instilling pride in our American heritage.
Blue Groove is one of seven performing components that make up the Air National Guard Band of the South. This big band-style ensemble brings high-energy concerts to audiences throughout the southeastern United States through performance of America's only original art form: Jazz.
Featuring 18 talented musicians from around the country, Blue Groove presents an eclectic variety of music, getting audience members of all ages to tap their toes and hum along with classic jazz and swing favorites while also incorporating a more contemporary sound in order to connect with today's generation. Their versatility allows them to entertain audiences in concert halls as well as outdoor music festivals, and they often collaborate with guest soloists from around the country. From Glenn Miller big band arrangements to more recent tunes by artists like Justin Timberlake and Bruno Mars, Blue Groove offers something for everyone.
Sound Barrier is one of the seven ensembles that makes up the Air National Guard Band of the South. This classic rock and soul revue band, complete with horn section, performs music ranging from classic rock to funk, and from Motown to today’s greatest hits, as well as patriotic favorites. Sound Barrier’s high-energy shows allow them to tell the Air National Guard story to audiences of all ages, and because of the variety and diversity of their musical selections, there is sure to be something for everyone to enjoy.
Consisting of two trumpets, trombone, horn, tuba and percussion, the Air National Guard Band of the South Blue Yonder Brass performs a wide range of musical styles.
The quintet performs music suitable for clinics, receptions, military ceremonies, public concerts, and schools - including a unique, educational concert program specifically designed for children. The musicians are active performers and music educators throughout the region.
Consisting of a flute, oboe, clarinet, horn, and euphonium, the Air National Guard Band of the South's Wind Quintet is an ensemble with exciting and flexible repertoire.
The quintet is prepared to perform a variety of functions including military ceremonies, recitals, receptions, and public outreach. The musicians are active performers and music educators throughout the southeast.
