The Herald Trumpet Ensemble typically performs with 5 brass instrumentalists and a percussionist. The brass instruments used include the E-flat soprano, two B-flat mezzo-sopranos, a B-flat tenor, and Bb bass trumpet. The brightly colored banners or tabards that hang from the bell of each instrument serve to enhance the visual effect of the ensemble. The Herald Trumpet Ensemble is often requested for official military functions, civic ceremonies, as well as major sporting and community events, performing musical honors for dignitaries, heroic fanfares and the national anthem.
