On September 26th, 27th, and 29th, the U.S. Air Force Band of the Golden West will present concerts that showcase the artistry and creativity of Airmen musicians from Travis Air Force Base. The Chamber Players recital series gives local audiences the opportunity to hear distinctive chamber works while providing a creative outlet for the performers.

Promising a program of variety and skill, the concerts will be presented locally at venues in Suisun City, Mountain View and Livermore. All of the events are free and open to the public, though tickets are available and recommended.

Master Sergeant Coreen Levin, an oboist with the band, is looking forward to the creativity and musicianship of all of the players.

"The audience will enjoy the wide variety of styles of music the performers are excited to present," says Levin.

The professional, Airman musicians will perform on a wide variety of instruments, such as marimba, clarinet, oboe, French horn, bassoon, trombone, piano, voice, and many more. Featuring music chosen by the musicians themselves, the soloists and small ensembles will perform a diverse program to include works by Schubert, C. M. von Weber, Reinecke, and even some movie music.

Airman 1st Class Brian Wilmer, one of the band's newest members, is excited to perform "The Shepherd on the Rock" for soprano, clarinet, and piano.

"I've played music with a lot of different groups in a lot of different places, but nothing has quite the same impact as putting on the uniform every day," says Wilmer. "My father served in the Army for 26 years and it is an honor to continue the legacy."

Free concerts are one of the ways that Travis Air Force Base says thank you to the surrounding communities for providing year-round support to its members. As a part of Air Mobility Command, Travis AFB airmen provide worldwide cargo and passenger delivery, air refueling and aeromedical evacuation. This often includes delivering humanitarian supplies to hurricane, flood and earthquake victims both at home and around the world.

The band will perform the following FREE Chamber Recitals: 26 Sep, 7 p.m.--Salvation Army KROC Center, 586 Wigeon Way Suisun City CA. Tickets available beginning August 29th; call 707-439-7880 for more information.
