St. Paddy's concert set

Travis AFB, California --  The U.S. Air Force Band of the Golden West will present a St. Patrick's Day concert March 17 at Theatre DeVille in downtown Vacaville, California.

The doors will open at 7 p.m. for the 8 p.m. show. Open to all ages, this family-friendly concert is free and does not require tickets.  

The Blue Yonders are not a typical Air Force Band ensemble. Sporting kilts and playing acoustic instruments such as mandolin, accordion and Irish flute, the band will perform a variety of music in keeping with the Irish holiday.  

"We play everything from jigs, reels and pub tunes to Tom Petty, Johnny Cash, Prince, Bob Marley and so much more," says Master Sgt. Sherry Garza, NCO in charge of the group. "We like to change it up and we put our Yonders spin on everything. Crowds love it."  

In addition to presenting an adventurous assortment of music, The Blue Yonders are excited to partner with a local dance company, The Vacaville Irish Dancers. The all-ages troupe will perform throughout the evening with The Blue Yonders and, in between sets, will give concertgoers an extra taste of authenticity for the holiday.  

"The Vacaville Irish Dancers are beyond excited to share our love of Irish dancing and our Irish heritage with our community," said Candice Foy, one of the Irish dancers. "The audience can expect traditional dancing along with fun ceili dances, which the audience (is) more than welcome to come learn and try with us during this show."  

Free concerts are one of the ways that Travis Air Force Base, California, shows appreciation to the surrounding communities for providing yearround support to its members. As a part of Air Force Public Affairs, the band provides a way to say thanks to all who support the Travis Air Force Base mission at home and abroad.
