Throughout its long history, the Airmen of Note has regularly performed and recorded with the leading artists in the jazz world. In fact, the list of guest artists featured with the Airmen of Note reads like a "who's who" of the jazz industry. They also do very well without a guest artist. For example: in 2009, the band's "Cool Yule" holiday recording raced up the charts to be the second most played jazz recording in the United States.

Since 1990, the Airmen of Note has presented a concert series called The Jazz Heritage Series to music lovers in the nation's capital. Over the years since its inception, music critics and concert goers have praised this high-quality music series, and letters of appreciation have poured in. The series features internationally acclaimed jazz musicians who donate their time and talent to join forces with one of the best and most versatile big bands in America--the Airmen of Note. The group spearheaded The U.S. Air Force Band's return to regular broadcasting in 2007 by taking its Jazz Heritage Series to the airwaves. This allowed listeners across the United States to enjoy the programs that previously could only be appreciated by live audiences in Washington, D.C.

Now, we're pleased to offer the Jazz Heritage Series broadcast archives, giving jazz fans worldwide a chance to listen to the past Jazz Heritage Series broadcasts from 2007-2012 via the Internet. In addition, the 2013 Jazz Heritage Series broadcasts featuring Roberta Gambarini, Andy Martin, and Joe Locke have just been made available to radio stations worldwide. Please note: due to the government sequester, the Note was unable to perform this series publicly this year. It is our hope to offer these concerts publicly again in 2014. Although the Airmen of Note was unable to perform any public Jazz Heritage Series concerts this year, the band pressed forward and is currently recording 2014 broadcasts in-house at The United States Air Force Band facility.

The Airmen of Note's Jazz Heritage Series, presented by The United States Air Force Band, provides a wonderful opportunity for the public to experience the Air Force's high level of professionalism through concerts featuring masters of the only American-born art form--jazz.
