The summer season is upon us. Temperatures are rising, grills are fired up, and The United States Air Force Band is ready to serenade the national capital region with our Summer Concert Series. The series kicked off May 30 with the Concert Band and Singing Sergeants at the Air Force Memorial. The program will be repeated on June 3 and 4. The show features music from Stage and Screen, with a special D-Day 70th Anniversary Salute. Euphonium player Joe Broom, the winner of The U.S. Air Force Band's Young Artist Competition, joined the band as featured soloist on May 30. The Concert Band and Singing Sergeants will be featured many times in the month of June, as well as several performances by Max Impact, the Airmen of Note, the Air Force Strings and more!

This summer's concert line up is more packed than ever with at least three opportunities to attend concerts each week.

Tuesdays at 8 p.m. (June 3-August 26)
Catch the band on the west side steps of The U.S. Capitol. It is truly a one of a kind experience to sit on the steps and gaze out at the Washington Monument while enjoying wonderful music! Further information is available athttp://www.aoc.gov/press-room/military-bands-summer-concert-series-2014.

Wednesdays at 8 p.m. (June 4-August 27, except June 25 and July 2)
This year, the Band's ensembles return to the newly renovated National Sylvan Theater near the base of the Washington Monument. The theater is located at the northwest corner of 15th Street and Independence Avenue, S.W. This is yet another great opportunity to hear wonderful music right on the National Mall grounds.

Fridays at 8 p.m. (May 30- August 29)
A favorite destination for concertgoers is the Air Force Memorial in Arlington. Bring a picnic and enjoy the wonderful view of the city from this beautiful memorial. The United States Air Force Honor Guard Drill Team will give a pre-concert demonstration on five Fridays at 7:40 p.m. Catch the drill team on May 30, June 13, August 1 and August 29. Though parking can be difficult at this venue, The Air Force Memorial graciously provides shuttle transportation from several locations near the metro as well as from nearby parking areas. Please visit their website for parking and trolley shuttle information. http://www.airforcememorial.org/visit/specialeventtransportation.

A complete concert schedule can be found online at the following web address: http://www.usafband.af.mil/event/summerconcertseries/. As with all outdoor concerts, we occasionally are unable to perform due to weather conditions. Weather cancellations will be announced by 3 p.m. on the day of the performance and will be posted on the Band's homepage at www.usafband.af.mil as well as on our Facebook and Twitter pages.
