Ringtones, get your ringtones!

It all started when Senior Master Sgt. Bill Tortolano, noncommissioned officer of the Air Force Strings, pitched the idea of posting ringtones on our website for download. Giving it the clever name of "Stringtones" for those files specific to the Air Force Strings, everyone instantly thought it was a great concept. Thus, another successful Band outreach project was born!

Since then, Band webmaster, Master Sgt. Brian Davis, and his collateral duty team have been hard at work creating and posting ringtones. To date, each of the Band's main performing groups are represented, as well as one of the unit's small groups, Celtic Aire. In fact, the ringtones were a big hit as Max Impact hit the road on their first-ever national tour this past June.

The free, downloadable files are available for both iPhone and Android phones. No surprise, one of the most popular has been "The Air Force Song" ringtone. Since being posted on June 26, it has more than 300 downloads to date.

Lt. Shanti Nolan, officer in charge of Production for The U.S. Air Force Band, is excited about this innovative way to share Air Force excellence:

It is exciting to thrust great music from throughout our heritage into the 21st century by having some of the world's best musical performances 'ringing' every day on people's hand-held devices. You won't find more polished, musical sounds to alert you to a call or text anywhere in the world!
