Fans of chamber music in the Washington, D.C. area will likely find something that suits their interests as The U.S. Air Force Band kicks off its fall chamber series with fourteen concerts throughout Maryland, Virginia and Washington, D.C. The series will feature a wide selection of musical genre represented ranging from traditional woodwind quintet to the less formal jazz combo, in venues both familiar and new.

Maryland residents should take note of our increasingly popular series, performed in one of our newest locations. The Jewish Community Center of Greater Washington will present performances by the Band's Airmen musicians every Tuesday throughout the month of September. This series begins on Sept. 9 with a rare joint service performance entitled "An Evening of Music for Clarinet Quartet," featuring musicians from the U.S. Air Force, the U.S. Army, the U.S. Marine Corps, and the U.S. Navy. The J.C.C. of Greater Washington is located at 6125 Montrose Road in Rockville, Maryland. Performances begin at 8 p.m. For more information, please visit their website at www.jccgw.org.

Of additional interest to Marylanders, on Sept. 10 at 7:30 p.m., Montgomery College will welcome members of the Airmen of Note for "An Evening of Music for Jazz Combo." Montgomery College is located at 51 Mannakee Street in Rockville, Maryland.

In Old Town Alexandria, Virginia, The Lyceum: Alexandria's History Museum will continue to host a chamber music group from the Band every Thursday at 8 p.m. from Oct. 2 through Nov. 30, excluding Oct. 30. The museum is located at 201 South Washington Street in Alexandria, Virginia. Burke United Methodist Church will present Senior Master Sgt. Robert Harrelson in "An Art Song and Aria Recital" on Sunday, Nov. 2 at 3 p.m. Burke United Methodist is located at 6200 Burke Centre Parkway in Burke, Virginia.

Finally, on Sunday, Sept. 21, a special chamber concert at the Women's Memorial at Arlington National Cemetery will feature guest artist David Pittsinger premiering a work entitled "Arlington Sons," commemorating the 150th anniversary of Arlington National Cemetery. The concert will also feature two of the Concert Band's newest chamber groups: the U.S. Air Force Reed Quintet and the U.S. Air Force Chamber Trio. The Women's Memorial is located at Arlington National Cemetery, 1 Memorial Drive in Arlington, Virginia. We hope to see you at one of these free, non-ticketed concerts featuring soloists and ensembles from The U.S. Air Force Band.
