Singing Sergeants members take to the airwaves

When the Band's Airmen musicians embark on a national community relations tour, the objective is simple: to honor those who have served, inspire Americans to heighted patriotism and to have a positive impact on the global community. One of the best ways to meet this goal is to perform on a local television morning show.

Twelve members from the Singing Sergeants, the official chorus of the United States Air Force, were recently featured on Alabama Live! which is broadcast on WSFA, Channel 12, in Montgomery, Alabama. The ensemble was led by the Band's commander and conductor, Col. Larry Lang. The morning show performance was the kickoff event at the start of a 12-day tour through Alabama, Georgia and Florida. The group performed "Freedom Song," arranged by Singing Sergeants member Master Sgt. Ben Park, which Lang dedicated to all the members of the armed forces both past and present.

The nearly 6 minutes of airtime was seen by more than nine thousand residents of the Montgomery community and helped promote the evening performance in nearby Troy, Alabama by the United States Air Force Concert Band and Singing Sergeants. The concert in Troy was held at the Crosby Theater on the campus of Troy University and drew an audience that exceeded 700.
