On Nov. 14, the Airmen of Note will embark on a week-long fall tour, trading the crisp autumn weather of Washington, D.C., for the warmth of the sunshine state. As seasoned fans already know and the uninitiated soon will discover, a Note concert takes the listener on a musical journey from the great big bands of yore to the latest and greatest cutting edge jazz charts. There's always something for everyone to enjoy at an Airmen of Note concert!

First stop: Orlando, Nov. 15, at The Waterside Stage at Downtown Disney. For years, the band has enjoyed and outstanding partnership with Disney and being featured at this venue is always a winner for generating enthusiastic crowds. The performance will begin at 6:30 p.m. and, as always, is free and open to the public. Before leaving Orlando, the Note will take a dip at SeaWorld, performing two shows on Nov. 16, at 12:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. Cool off with us at the Wild Arctic Pavilion.

After Orlando, we head up to The Villages on Nov. 17. The folks at the Savannah Center's Scarlet O'Hara Theater always treat us right and provide an enthusiastic crowd! See you there at 6 p.m.

Next on the docket is Daytona Beach. We are excited to play at the beautiful News-Journal Center Theater situated on the banks of the Halifax River! Come join us on Nov. 18, in historic downtown Daytona for our 7:30 p.m. performance. Of particular note, the band will perform a new piece by innovative writer Paul White entitled "Cast the Net." Continuing on our way  down the Atlantic coast, we arrive in West Palm Beach. We'll hold court at Meyer Amphitheatre for a swinging, 75-minute set beginning at 7 p.m., on Nov. 19.

No tour would be complete without some high quality interaction with music students, so on Nov. 20, the Note will conduct two, 50-minute clinics for Broward County Public schools at the Miramar Cultural Center-Artspark at 10 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. The members of the Airmen of Note have a deep knowledge of the history and tradition of big band music and passing on the legacy of the art form is near and dear to the band. The great jazz musicians within the band cherish every educational outreach opportunity that going on the road affords them.

Last, but definitely not least, the final concert of the tour is at 8 p.m., at Young Circle Park in Hollywood, Florida, on Nov. 21. Come out and cheer our lead trumpet phenom, and local south Florida son, Senior Master Sgt. Brian MacDonald, as he pays homage to trumpet great, Doc Severinsen, with a performance of "I Want To Be Happy." We will also be performing the winning composition of the 2014 Sammy Nestico Competition, "New Day," by William Longo.
