Celebrate the Spirit of the Season with FREE Holiday Ringtones Published Dec. 3, 2014 By Master Sgt. Brooke Emery Washington, D.C. -- Continuing the success of the Band's first ringtone project, a second initiative will offer a variety of holiday ringtones to help music fans everywhere enjoy the spirit of the holidays. Special holiday ringtones will be available for download throughout the month of December through the band's website, with nineteen selections featuring four of the unit's performing ensembles- the Concert Band, Air Force Strings, Airmen of Note and Singing Sergeants. Fans of original music can download a clip of Master Sgt. John Bliss' "Fresh Powder" or retired Senior Master Sgt. Bob Thurston's Santa-themed song, mash-up entitled "Santamania," both recorded by the Concert Band. For a jazzier sound, check out the old favorite "Here Comes Santa Claus," performed by the Airmen of Note with a swinging twist. The Strings and Singing Sergeants offer more traditional favorites, including the overture to "The Nutcracker," "Skater's Waltz" and "Carol of the Bells" among others. Offering ringtones via the Band's website began with Senior Master Sgt. Bill Tortolano, noncommissioned officer of the Air Force Strings, who pitched the idea of posting them for download. Giving it the clever name of "Stringtones" for those files specific to the Air Force Strings, the outreach project became an instant success, with the most popular download being "The Air Force Song" ringtone. With that success in mind, a second project was launched, this time reflecting the diversity of the musical ensembles contained within the Band. The ringtones are available for download on both the Android and iPhone. However, Mac users take note--the iPhone requires the m4r format for ringtones. Easy instructions for iPhone users are posted on the same webpage that includes the ringtones. A link to the entire selection of holiday ringtones is available here. The U.S. Air Force Band hopes you enjoy this fast, fun and free way to celebrate the holidays!
