Airmen of Note preparing for tour of the Keystone State

The Airmen of Note are currently preparing for their tour of Pennsylvania early next month. Beginning on September 5, the group will present four concerts on consecutive nights, visiting Altoona, Butler, Johnstown and Indiana. The tour will include several evening concerts and educational outreach events.

Four members of the Note call the Keystone State home, including the leader of the Note, Senior Master Sgt. Timothy Leahey. The first performance in Altoona will hold special significance for him, since Leahey was born and raised there. It is also a mere 25 miles from Ebensburg, Pennsylvania - the hometown of the band's supremely gifted chief arranger, Master Sgt. Alan Baylock.

"It's a privilege to play with the band, period," says Leahey. "But, to come into my hometown as the leader of the group? It's an incredible honor."

Other members from Pennsylvania are Master Sgt. Douglas Morgan (Grove City) and Technical Sgt. Luke Brandon (Philadelphia). It has long been a tradition in the Airmen of Note to feature members on solos when performing in their home state, and this tour will be no exception. The musical director of the group, Master Sgt. Tyler Kuebler, is meticulously crafting set lists to feature the Pennsylvanians in front of their "home crowds".

U.S. Air Force core values are always present in every Air Force Band performance; this is the secret of the Band's phenomenal power to change hearts and minds around the world. "We aim to inspire patriotism in our performances," says Leahey. "We represent the excellence of Airmen across the globe."
