The United States Air Force Concert Band will perform a free concert on Friday evening, January 15 at Messiah College in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania.  This concert, entitled "Homages," will take place in beautiful Parmer Hall in the Calvin and Janet High Center at 7 p.m.

"Homages" will feature music composed in tribute to a wide variety of people, places, events and ideas.  It will feature works by composer John Williams, in his tribute to New England, as well as a work dedicated to the March King, John Philip Sousa, by film composer Ira Hearshen.

The Band will present composer Ron Nelson's Passacaglia on B-A-C-H, his nod to the German baroque composer, as well as Mark Camphouse's tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., on the 87th anniversary of the birth of the civil rights leader.

Bassoon soloist Technical Sgt. Sandy Sisk will present two movements from Carl Maria von Weber's Concerto in F Major for Bassoon, one of the major works in the repertoire for the instrument.  The movements will include the lyrical, song-like Adagio, and the showy and playful Allegro.

Baritone vocalist Master Sgt. Matthew Irish will present an aria from Charles Gounod's opera, Faust, and help complete the concert with a stirring patriotic tribute.
