Battle of the Bands in Hawaii

HONOLULU - Tech Sgt Johnny Kukan of the U. S. Air Force Band of the Pacific - Hawaii, also known as "Hana Hou" performs in front of more than 400 onlookers during a Military Band Melee event at Ft DeRussy Park in Honolulu, Hawaii on May 29 as part of Military Appreciation Month and a prelude to Memorial Day events. The U.S. Army's 25th Infantry Division Band, the U. S. Navy Pacific Fleet Band, the Marine Corps Forces Pacific Band, the U.S. Air Force of the Band of the Pacific-Hawaii and the U.S. Coast Guard were all represented at the free concert. Hana Hou Bids TSgt Kukan Aloha

8 December 2010 -- The USAF Band of the Pacific- Hawaii's longtime guitarist and Ukulele player, TSgt John Kukan, left Honolulu for his next assignment, Scott AFB, IL. TSgt Kukan performed with Hana Hou, Small Kine, protocol combo, and as a solo musician during his time in Hawaii. He traveled throughout the Pacific Region performing for numerous foreign dignitaries and US military and government leaders. His on- stage versatility will be sorely missed.

TSgt Kukan was also a dedicated volunteer for the local community and Team Hickam; serving with the American Red Cross, Hickam 5/6 Council, and the Hickam Airman's Attic to name just a few organizations.

TSgt Kukan was selected the 2009 PACAF Bands' Non Commissioned Officer of the year.

Arriving in September of 2004 and departing paradise in December of 2010, TSgt Kukan's personal and professional contributions will be missed. The USAF Band of the Pacific- Hawaii wishes him the best of luck at his new assignment at Scott AFB, with the USAF Band of Mid- America. ALOHA!!
