The United States Air Force Band of Flight will present two world premieres as part of this year's Veterans tribute concert.

"Summon the Heroes: A Veterans Day Concert" will take place at the National Museum of the United States Air Force at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 3.

Audience members will witness the world premiere performance of "From the Field to the Sky," a piece commissioned specifically for this concert by the Band of Flight and written by world-renowned composer Kenneth Fuchs. This piece was commissioned in honor of the National Museum of the United States Air Force, longtime host venue for the Band of Flight.

Mr. Fuchs will be on hand to witness the premiere performance of his newest work. His works have been performed throughout the world, most notably on three albums released by the London Symphony Orchestra. The first album in the LSO series garnered two Grammy Award nominations in 2005.

The night's second world premiere, composed by Tech. Sgt. Scott Wise, is entitled "The Arsenal of Democracy". This piece, featuring live narration and recordings of famous historical figures, is a multimedia presentation that pays tribute to the tremendous homefront effort undertaken in World War II to provide a steady supply of firepower to the front lines.

As part of an ongoing effort to engage with community partners, the Kettering Children's Choir will perform alongside the Band of Flight. Their performance will bridge generations young and old as the focus shifts from telling "our story" to telling "their story" - that of our nation's veterans.

The concert will then conclude with several rousing numbers, a finale befitting the occasion of the 20th anniversary of Air Force Materiel Command.

While tickets for the event have been distributed, interested patrons may wish to contact the National Museum of the United States Air Force for information about overflow seating at http://www.nationalmuseum.af.mil/news&events/concerts.asp .
