Band Of Liberty Welcomes Gregg Edelman, star of stage and screen Published Sept. 27, 2007 By the Band of Liberty ESC-BA Hanscom AFB, Ma -- On Wednesday July 25th, The USAF Band of Liberty had the privilege of performing with famed Broadway and Hollywood star Gregg Edelman. A consummate actor and vocalist, Mr. Edelman performed a number of Broadway favorites on the evening. He has been nominated for Broadway's Tony Award four times: once as Best Actor (Musical), in 1990 for "City of Angels"; and three times as Best Actor (Featured Role - Musical): in 1993, for "Anna Karenina"; in 1998, for a revival of "1776"; and in 2002, for playing Cinderella's Prince/the Wolf in a revival of "Into the Woods." In addition to his stage performances, you may recognize Mr. Edelman from the feature films Little Children and Spider Man 2. When asked, Mr. Edelman had nothing but praise for the band. "These are top-notch, professional musicians. The Air Force is extremely well represented. This evening has been a true delight." The evening was also the last performance of Lt Col Larry Lang as Commander of the Band of Liberty. Lt Col Lang recently received orders to serve as commander of the Band at the Air Force Academy. He departed for Colorado on Thursday July 26th. Major General Rooney and Colonel Blaine were in attendance for the presentation of the Meritorious Service Medal, third oak leaf cluster to Lt. Col Lang. On stage, General Rooney spoke briefly to the audience, "Colonel Lang has really taken this band to the next level. He will be greatly missed".
