Przyzycki USAF Academy Band 9/2/2008 -- The United States Air Force Academy Band is pleased to announce the appointment of its new Deputy Commander and Assistant Conductor Second Lieutenant Jason S. Plosch. Lieutenant Plosch was born and raised in Clinton, Iowa and attended the University of Iowa, graduating with honors and receiving his Bachelor of Music degree in 1995. He received his Master of Music degree from Penn State University in 1998. Lieutenant Plosch is not new to the Air Force band career field however. He first enlisted in our United States Air Force in July 2001 as a trumpeter with the USAF Band of Flight at Wright-Patterson AFB, OH. There, he performed in seven different ensembles performing every musical style imaginable. In addition to bringing his unique perspective as a prior-enlisted member of our Air Force, Lt Plosch is also a pioneer in the world of band deployments. As a member of the Air Force Central Command's Hot Brass, he was in the very first brass ensemble to deploy to Southwest Asia in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. "Performing for the great men and women overseas who have put their lives on the line to protect our nation's freedom and way of life is perhaps the greatest honor I have ever had. To see firsthand the impact that bands can have on troop morale and international relations has instilled an overwhelming pride that I will always have in our career field," stated Lt Plosch. In 2008, Lieutenant Plosch answered the call to lead on yet another level, and was commissioned through the Officer Training School at Maxwell AFB, Alabama where he was a Distinguished Graduate. Lieutenant Plosch draws upon a vast amount of experience as he assumes his duties as Deputy Commander. His professional credits include work at Disneyland, Anaheim, California and at Tokyo Disneyland in Japan. He has also performed with Princess Cruise Lines and served as Director of Bands in the high school music department in Centerville, Iowa, garnering numerous awards and accolades. He has also performed in numerous orchestras in Iowa, Ohio and Pennsylvania and with such musical luminaries as Aretha Franklin, The Manhattan Transfer, Bernadette Peters, Lou Rawls, Byron Stripling and many others. "I am honored to be able to serve my country through the universal language of music. I am so fortunate to be able to work with such an outstanding group of musicians and to be mentored by a gifted leader like Lieutenant Colonel Larry Lang. I am really looking forward to working with this world class organization and learning as much as I can." The United States Air Force Academy Band is happy to welcome Lt Plosch and his family to its extended musical family. Lt Plosch has settled in nicely to the Colorado Springs area and embraced the active outdoor lifestyle as he enjoys golf, tennis and running. You can expect to hear great things in the future about this gifted musician and leader.
