The USAF Academy Band "Celebrates America!" Published March 11, 2009 By SMSgt Larry Hill The USAF Academy Band Anderson, IN -- The Academy Band presented "Celebrate America!" to an enthusiastic audience last night at Reardon Hall on the campus of Anderson University in Anderson, IN. The audience was thrilled by TSgt Stephen Brannen's performance of "The Lone Ranger," a raucous arrangement of Rossini's "William Tell" Overture scored for solo guitar with band. High school musicians from the Anderson area and performed with the band on "Emblem of Freedom" by Karl King. The students are Dustin Edwards, Samaria Cooper, Daniel Bedell and Samantha Thumpston-students of Erin Smith at Daleville Junior/Senior High School and Jessica Robins, Matthew Waters and Tyler Bently-students of Douglas Fletcher at Highland High School. Tonight the band will appear in Bedford, IN and tomorrow night in Louisville, KY. While in Louisville the band will honor Mr. Warren Pendleton, who will receive the Bronze Star for his service in the United States Army during World War Two. Mr. Pendleton was severely wounded as a Private during the battle of Peleliu in the Palau Islands and will receive his award from Major General (Retired) Carl Black during the concert.
