A Successful tour ends in Oxford, MS Published March 31, 2009 By SMSgt Larry Hill The USAF Academy Band Oxford, MS -- The USAF Academy Band finished a successful tour Tuesday night with a performance in the Gertrude Ford Auditorium on the campus of the University of Mississippi. The performance featured Stephen Brannen's "Lone Ranger" guitar solo and poignant moments from vocalists MSgt Jerome Oddo, TSgt Julie Bradley and TSgt Crissy Saalborn. MSgt Tim Allums entertained the capacity audience with "50 States," a light hearted look at all the states of the Union. The band once again featured local students performing Karl King's "Emblem of Freedom" march. From Oxford High School students of Matt Rowan were Andrew Henry, Siyuan Wu and Stephen Savell. Students of Kevin and Beverly Cole at Lafayette County High School were William Nicholas, Jonathan Norman and Sela Smith. All of these students took time out of their spring break to play with the Band. This tour featured eight performances by the Concert Band in four states. Stellar Brass also presented one performance. Lt Col Larry H. Lang, Commander, was featured on 10 radio programs and three television news shows. The Academy Band reached over 500,000 people during this tour. The next public performance by the Concert Band will be May 12 in the Pikes Peak Center, Colorado Springs.
