USAF Academy Band performs in Butte, Montana Published Oct. 15, 2009 By SMSgt Larry Hill The USAF Academy Band Butte, MT -- Tonight the United States Air Force Academy Band performed "Celebration" honoring our country's heritage to a full house at the Mother Lode Theater in Butte, MT. The Air Force ROTC Detachment 450 Honor Guard from Montana State University presented the colors prior to a solo performance of the National Anthem by MSgt Randy Ward. The Band featured students from the Butte area performing the French National Defile March. Students performing with the band were Jarrett Payne and Julie Leavitt from Twin Bridges Schools and Luke Suttey, Jule Olivieri and Randy Stiff from Butte High School. Following intermission, "The Dames of Broadway" featured Academy Band vocalists and instrumentalists in an exciting, choreographed performance of Broadway favorites from the 1940s through today. The audience swelled with patriotic pride during performances of America the Beautiful and The Stars and Stripes Forever. The Band recognized veterans of our nation's military by playing the songs of all five Armed Services. Tomorrow night the Band will perform in Idaho Falls, ID at the Idaho Falls Civic Auditorium. This performance will feature TSgt Emanuel Jester on tuba.
