USAF Academy Band Dazzles Audience in Idaho Falls, ID Published Oct. 16, 2009 By MSgt Steven M. Przyzycki The USAF Academy Band Idaho Falls, ID -- Your United States Air Force Academy Band continued its "Celebration" tour tonight with a performance at the beautiful Idaho Falls Civic Auditorium. President Ronald Regan spoke here in 1984 as he campaigned for reelection. Presenting a diverse program that honors the many cultures that comprise the fabric of America, the USAF Academy Band had the packed crowd on its feet. Technical Sergeant Emanuel Jester ignited the crowd, performing James Barnes' Concerto for Tuba. The Band also featured students from Hillcrest H.S.Idaho Falls performing the French National Defile March. Students performing with the band were Caitlin Plowman, Miekan Stonehill, Tavis Nelson, Leesa Wangsgard and Cameron Hall all from local Hillcrest High School. Following intermission, "The Dames of Broadway" featured Academy Band vocalists and instrumentalists in an exciting, choreographed performance of Broadway favorites from the 1940s to today. An audience favorite was the band's performance of all five Armed Service Songs to honor the many veterans in the audience, and the playing of America the Beautiful and our nation's National March, John Philip Sousa's The Stars and Stripes Forever. Tomorrow night, the Band performs in Twin Falls, ID at the College of Southern Idaho Fine Arts. This performance will feature MSgt Tim Blake on marimba.
