Academy Band Celebrates Holidays in Fort Collins, CO Published Dec. 7, 2009 By SMSgt Larry T. Hill The USAF Academy Band Fort Collins, CO -- The USAF Academy Band presented two performances of "Holly and Ivy, The Spirit of the Season" at the Lincoln Center in Ft. Collins, CO. The two full-house audiences were treated to an exciting blend of traditional settings and new settings of holiday favorites. Technical Sergeant Crissy Saalborn thrilled the audience with a jazzy version of Jingle Bells that set a light-hearted tone for the evening. The band also featured Abendmusik, an outstanding choir from Colorado Springs, in selections throughout the performances. The 15-voice choir sang favorites such as "Carol of the Bells" and "It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year". Second Lieutenant Jason Plosch led the Band and Abendmusik through entertaining performances of "Gloria" and "Merry Christmas, Merry Christmas". A surprise appearance by Santa Claus brought shouts of glee from the children in the audience, who were invited to the stage to talk to Santa. All in all, "Holly and Ivy, The Spirit of the Season" provided the perfect start to this special time of year.
