The tour, which takes place October 4-16, will present a great variety of musical styles and genres--something for everyone! The first half of each performance will feature the Concert Band, as well as a number of vocal and instrumental soloists. Master Sgt. Jennifer Moore will be featured in Charles Griffes "Poem for Flute", while vocalist Senior Master Sgt. Angela Burns, who hails from Wilmington, N.C., will be featured in "Guys and Dolls." Coloratura soprano Senior Master Sgt. Robin Askew McConnell--a native of Chapel Hill, N.C.--will perform the Queen of the Night's famous aria "Der Hölle Rache" from Mozart's opera "Die Zauberflöte (The Magic Flute) and "Carnival of Venice" by Sir Julius Benedict. The Concert Band will also perform other works, such as "An Outdoor Overture" by Aaron Copland, and John Adams' "A Short Ride in a Fast Machine." The Singing Sergeants will be featured on the second half of each program in a medley of classic George Gershwin songs in "The Gershwin Years", as well as in numerous patriotic selections. While he has taken the Concert Band and Singing Sergeants on tour before, this will be the first tour for Lieutenant Colonel Alan C. Sierichs since he was named Commander and Music Director of The USAF Band in July. The Concert Band and Singing Sergeants are looking forward to touring the southeast for this fall's tour.
