On October 26th, the Air Force Strings traveled to Nashville, joining the Band of the Air Force Reserve (Robins AFB, Ga.) for "Holiday Notes from Home"--a production that featured guest artists Amy Grant and Take 6. The live concert taping, emceed by radio and television personalities Lorraine Cook and Charlie Chase, will be broadcast across the globe via the Armed Forces Network throughout the holidays. The one-hour program will reach tens of thousands of service members and their families, bringing them a little closer to home during the holiday season.

"Holiday Notes from Home" began 17 years ago as a radio show by (now retired) Chief Master Sgt. David Ballengee. This year's broadcast was conducted by Major Donald Schofield, Commander, Air Force Band of the Reserve.

The AF Strings previously joined the Robins Band for radio broadcast recordings in 2003 and 2005, and television broadcasts in 2007 and 2008. Members of the Concert Band and Singing Sergeants also joined the Strings for the 2009 effort.

It was an honor for The USAF Band to join forces with members of the AF Band career field for such a fantastic endeavor. It is our hope that this program will give service members around the world a little taste of "home".
