USAF Band Rings in the Holiday Season

This year's holiday celebration featured the Concert Band, Singing Sergeants and Ceremonial Brass at Daughters of the American Revolution Constitution Hall in "The Best Gift of All". There were appearances by Santa and Mrs. Claus and even the Grinch! The audience was given two rare opportunities to choose certain selections that were to be performed--a first for The USAF Band.

The most moving part of the program was watching video messages from Airmen to their families in the National Capitol Region. These Airmen are currently deployed and therefore unable to be with their families this holiday season. This was a solemn reminder of the dedication and sacrifice of our fellow servicemembers that are deployed to forward locations.

Dancers from the Virginia Ballet Company were featured in three movements from "The Nutcracker", and children were invited onstage with Santa and Mrs. Claus and their elves for a reading of "How the Grinch Stole Christmas".

The Singing Sergeants performed a capella selections "I Wonder as I Wander" - featuring Master Sgt. Matthew Irish - and the show-stopping "Christmas Soup."

The audience had an up-close look at the Ceremonial Brass, as they performed antiphonally in different locations throughout the hall. They were led by their officer-in-charge, Major Scott A. Guidry.
