The United States Air Force Band invites you and your family to make this a summer to remember by joining us for the 2011 Summer Concert Series. Featuring the Air Force Strings, Airmen of Note, Concert Band, Max Impact and Singing Sergeants, the Series takes place at landmarks such as the Air Force Memorial, the west steps of the U.S. Capitol building and local high schools in Virginia and Maryland. Except for the July 4 "Independence Celebration" on the National Mall which begins at 6 p.m., all performances are at 8 p.m. and are free of charge; no tickets required.

The Series kicks off with the Concert Band and Singing Sergeants on Wednesday, June 1 at Bishop Ireton High School in Alexandria, Va. Come enjoy a night of music featuring the themes of "Cowboys and Country." The week of June 7 the Band will perform "A Night on the Big Screen-Movie Music." Additional themes for the summer include "A Night on Broadway," "Childhood Memories: Disney/Pixar Favorites" and "Around the World in Eighty Minutes." Come enjoy the sounds of classical, wind band and popular music with the Concert Band and Singing Sergeants.

The Airmen of Note will join forces with the Air Force rock band Max Impact on June 14 to perform "Dance Party USA." The Airmen of Note's other programs for the summer include "From Swing to Soul," "A Tribute to American Jazz Heroes: Louis Armstrong, Count Basie, Ella Fitzgerald and Duke Ellington" and "A Tribute to Stan Kenton." The "Note" will feature the music of the major eras of the band at each of its Summer Concert Series performances.

The Air Force Strings, Airmen of Note and Max Impact will combine this summer for performances not to be missed. Be sure to check out their performance July 4 at the Washington Monument for an "Independence Celebration." Also, the week of July 10 this same musical ensemble will perform "Funkytown!", an evening of music devoted to rock and funk.

Whether your tastes are rock, jazz, classical or the patriotic sounds of the American wind band, we hope you will join us for some beautiful music at our nation's most gorgeous monuments. You can find the complete calendar at www.usafband.af.mil. So bring a blanket or lawn chair - and a friend! - and help us create some memorable evenings under the stars at the 2011 Summer Concert Series.
