Celebrate Veteran's Day with the Air Force Strings Published Oct. 27, 2011 By Master Sgt. Bryce Bunner The USAF Band Joint Base Anacostia Bolling, D.C. -- The Air Force Strings will celebrate Veteran's Day by presenting a free concert at George Washington's Mount Vernon on Friday, Nov. 11 at 3 p.m. Featured works will include early American string overtures and Telemann's brilliantly burlesque "Don Quichotte Suite." The group will also perform some selections from its "Strolling Strings" repertoire. For the past three years, the Air Force Strings have performed at Mount Vernon on Veteran's Day and are looking forward to this return performance. Tech. Sgt. Frank Busso, the accordionist for the Air Force Strings, summed it up saying, "We are very pleased to return to Mount Vernon for our third consecutive Veteran's Day concert. It's always rewarding to perform in honor of our nation's heroes and the Smith Auditorium provides the perfect setting." Mount Vernon admits all active duty and retired military personnel free-of-charge on Veteran's Day. The concert is free; no tickets are needed.
