The U.S. Air Force Band has a long-standing tradition of supporting American Airmen both domestically and across the globe, and band members drawn from Max Impact, the Airmen of Note, and the String Quartet continued that tradition on March 24 by performing at the 2012 United States Air Force Charity Ball held at the beautiful Waterford in Springfield, Va.

This year's event marks the 9th consecutive year the Air Force family has come together to support programs offered by the Air Force Aid Society (AFAS).

The world-class entertainment provided by The Band's top-flight Airmen Musicians was an integral part of the overall success of this year's Charity Ball. In addition to the wonderful food provided by the Waterford, the high energy music kept the crowd pumped up and contributed in raising over $703,000 to benefit the essential programs offered by the AFAS.

Once again, our premier band craftsman represented their peers in the Air Force to senior leadership in attendance, including the Secretary of the Air Force, Chief of Staff of the Air Force and 123 active duty and retired general officers.

Max Impact and a high-powered horn section from the Airmen of Note collaborated to highlight the synergistic capabilities of The U.S. Air Force Band's various flights, performing music from an incredibly diverse set of artists including Paul Simon, Journey, Prince, Wild Cherry, and the Temptations.

In addition, a jazz combo made up from members of the Airmen of Note entertained the crowd with masterful performances of classic jazz standards, while the Air Force String Quartet dazzled listeners with classical favorites.

The United States Air Force Band is proud to represent the professional men and women serving in the United States Air Force. Additionally, this premier organization is honored to play an important role in supporting our fellow Airmen through the charitable efforts of the Air Force Charity Ball and the AFAS.
