New England Music Festival Appearance The Air Force Strings traveled to Boston in mid-April as the featured ensemble at the New England Music Festival. The festival was hosted by the Accordion Teachers Association of Massachusetts (ATAM) and included over 800 student competitors in a number of musical categories, including piano, strings, rock band, vocal and accordion.

The Strolling Strings and String Orchestra, in turn, performed a wide variety of musical genres for an enthusiastic crowd of New England area music educators, students, and their families, reaching over 1,000 audience members in two performances.

"The Air Force Strings were the talk of the weekend!" said Rosita Lee Latulippe, a member of the ATAM board of directors. Festival co-chairperson Peggy Falcetti added, "The Strolling Strings were the highlight of our 50th anniversary celebration. Everyone was amazed at the variety of music they performed!"

The Strings' very own accordionist Technical Sgt. Frank Busso also served as an adjudicator for over 50 contestants throughout the weekend, including the New England accordion championship category.

"We were honored and excited to be a part of this memorable anniversary of the Festival" said Air Force Strings concertmaster and Noncommissioned Officer in Charge Master Sgt. Mari Washington. "It was truly inspirational to perform for such a captivating audience of both young and old."
