On March 21, 2013 Master Sgt. Rich Sigler performed the final concert of his 24-year career as a jazz trumpeter with the Airmen of Note. The concert was held at Damascus High School in Damascus, Md. before a full house of enthusiastic listeners. Sigler was featured on several selections on the program, including "Waltz of the Trumpets" and "Brotherhood of Man."

After attending the University of North Texas and a stint touring with the Glenn Miller Orchestra, Sigler enlisted in the Air Force in 1989. Beginning early in his career, he displayed masterful solo and section work, and further enhanced the Airmen of Note's popular appeal with his skills on the EVI, an electronic wind synthesizer.

Over his remarkable career Sigler served in numerous roles. In recognition of his musical skills, he was appointed assistant music director and this past year as music director, where he contributed significantly to the Note's growth and legacy. He has also created numerous arrangements for the Note's library, many of which can be heard on the flight's recordings. For the past 14 years he has been integrally involved in editing recordings produced by the group. Additionally, Sigler further secured the legacy of the Note with his tireless efforts spent in editing Jazz Heritage Broadcast Series recordings dating back to the first series recording in 2006.

Throughout his career, Sigler participated in over 46 community relations tours across the United States, multiple international tours, jazz festival performances broadcast to hundreds of thousands, Jazz Heritage Broadcast Series recordings aired to millions yearly and numerous White House holiday performances. His talent, artistry and dedication have elevated the Airmen of Note's international reputation to new heights. He is to be congratulated on a stellar career and thanked for his selfless service to the Air Force and the Airmen of Note. He will be missed!
