Band members run in JBA Marathon Published May 2, 2013 By Chief Master Sgt. Jenn Pagnard Washington D.C. -- On April 20, two members of The U.S. Air Force Band laced up their running shoes joining over 200 runners for the first-ever Joint Base Andrew's Half Marathon. Senior Master Sgt. Mike Bosch, a trumpeter and the noncommissioned officer in charge of the Ceremonial Brass, finished eighth overall. This was his fourth half marathon. He's completed 11 full marathons as well. Chief Master Sgt. Albert Islas, chief of Operations for The U.S. Air Force Band, also ran the race. An avid runner, he has participated in six ultra marathons, 31 marathons and multiple half marathons, amazingly with no injuries. "It was great to be part of this well-organized event. The course was challenging, and I got to see a lot of areas on Joint Base Andrews I'd never seen before. My only complaint is it could have been a little warmer!" Islas said. At the finish line, Max Impact greeted the participants, and each runner was awarded a medal. The 13.1 mile race was sponsored by the Joint Base Andrew's Chiefs' Group.
