The first tenet of The United States Air Force Band’s Mission is “to honor those who have served.” We strive to accomplish this in every aspect of our daily work as we represent the sacrifices and achievements of the all active duty and retired Airman who have served our country honorably. No other holiday underscores this part of the Band’s mission more than Veterans Day, which celebrates the service of all U.S. Military Veterans. This November 11th, the Air Force Band is supporting multiple events in a salute to those Veterans.

The Concert Band and Singing Sergeants will perform at the Annual Veterans Day Service at Arlington National Cemetery. The ceremony commences at precisely 11:00 a.m. with a wreath laying at the Tomb of the Unknowns and continues inside the Memorial Amphitheatre, with a parade of colors by veterans’ organizations and remarks from dignitaries. More information on transportation in and out of the cemetery can be found https://www.va.gov/opa/vetsday/

The Strolling Strings will be performing at George Washington’s Mount Vernon at 3:00 p.m. as part of the “Mount Vernon Salutes Veterans” events. This patriotic concert will be held at the Robert and Clarice Smith Auditorium. Admission to Mount Vernon is free for all active duty, former, and retired military personnel on November 11th.

For additional information regarding either of these events, please visit the calendar section of our website. We hope you will join us for these events celebrating our nation’s heroes.
