The USAF Band Spring Chamber Players Series

Washington, D.C. -- Our Spring Chamber Players Series begins on March 7th, 2017 at the Lyceum: Alexandria's History Museum! This free concert series features instrumentalists from performing ensembles within the U.S. Air Force Band. Members create diverse programs, highlighting the excellent technical virtuosity and musicality within the organization.

This season, the Chamber Players Series adds a new performance venue to the mix: The National Museum of American History, bringing fresh opportunities to share music with audiences visiting Washington, D.C., some for the very first time. These performances will take place at 14th Street and Constitution Avenue, NW, Washington, D.C. 20001 on Thursdays at 12:30 p.m., May 11th through May 25th. Presented at lunchtime, these performances will be more causal by nature and afford the performers a way to interact with audience members in a more personal way.

The concert series is an exceptional chance for members of the Air Force Band to collaborate with not only colleagues from other performing ensembles, but also members of our sister service branches. One of the newest members in the Concert Band clarinet section, Technical Sergeant Nikki Hill, takes the stage on April 11th with her identical twin sister, Musician First Class Laurie Baynard, co-principal flutist of the U.S. Coast Guard Band. "I am beyond thrilled to share the stage once again with Laurie! We have grown up performing together and I couldn't think of a better person to debut with at the Lyceum for the Chamber Players Series." Working in tandem with our sister services reflects the great partnership, flexibility and trust among our military branches. We could not be more proud to represent these two branches of service in this meaningful way.

We hope to see you March 7th through April 25th at the Lyceum: Alexandria's History Museum on Tuesday evenings at 7:30 p.m. and May 11th through May 25th at the Smithsonian National Museum of American History on Thursday afternoons at 12:30 p.m. These free recitals provide Washington, D.C. area audiences a wonderful opportunity to enjoy performances ranging from classical chamber music and jazz to Celtic and eclectic music. No tickets or reserved seating required!
