Airmen of Note Roots Reaching New Soil Published Feb. 22, 2017 By Technical Sgt. Kevin Cerovich Washington, D.C. -- The Airmen of Note is preparing for a ground breaking concert at Gallaudet University next month. The concert on Monday, March 6th is the first of its kind as Gallaudet's student body is made up of deaf and hard of hearing students. The band has never performed in this capacity before. In addition to the music of the Airmen of Note, the United States Air Force Honor Guard Color Team will also perform at this unique concert. For more than 150 years, Gallaudet University has been an international leader in education for the deaf and hard of hearing. This bold initiative is perfectly matched by the innovative spirit of the United States Air Force. That same ethos is exemplified by the Airmen of Note, who have cut a six-decade long swath of excellence across the fabric of time. The powerful music presented at this concert will be rousing to all those in attendance, which is nothing new. What is profound is this unprecedented collaboration between The U.S. Air Force Band and this world-class university. "The power of music transcends physical limitations," says the group's superintendent, Senior Master Sgt. Tyler Kuebler. "The music of the Airmen of Note, in particular, will appeal across the spectrum with its use of extreme range from our fantastic lead trumpet player, Senior Master Sgt. Brian MacDonald all the way down to our masterful bass trombonist, Technical Sgt. Benjamin Polk." The Airmen of Note's musical director, Master Sgt. Benjamin Patterson is busy preparing a set of highly percussive, loud music that will certainly appeal to the deaf and hard of hearing students and community members. In addition to this, the crisp, visually stunning performance by the Air Force Honor Guard Color Team is sure to impress concert-goers.
