Technical Sergeant Gwendolyn Boros joined the United States Air Force Academy Band in February 2025. She currently performs as a horn player with the Concert Band, Ceremonial Band, and Rampart Winds.
TSgt Boros is a native of Oradell, NJ and spent her high school years in Stow, ME at Fryeburg Academy. Prior to joining the Air Force, she studied under Professors Gail Williams and Jonathan Boen at Northwestern University, graduating with a Bachelor’s in June 2024. Notable performances during her time at NU include playing the third movement of Konzertstück for Four Horns and Orchestra by Robert Schumann with the NU Philharmonia. She was the runner up in NU’s 2024 Orchestral Concerto Competition with Reinhold Glière’s Horn Concerto in Bb Major.
While at Northwestern, she spent two summers as an undergraduate research assistant in the Language and Communication in Aging and Neurodegeneration Research Group and the Center for Circadian and Sleep Medicine. She spent her summer before enlisting at the Aspen Music Festival, where she studied with Andrew Bain and Kevin Rivard, and where she again placed second in the 2024 Brass Concerto Competition. She has had the pleasure of playing under conductors such as JoAnn Falletta, Jung-Ho Pak, Larry Rachleff, Mallory Thompson, Michael Francis, Robert Spano, Brett Mitchell, Cristian Măcelaru, Leslie B. Dunner, Federico Cortese, Taichi Fukumura, and Roderick Cox.
