The most recent appropriations for the Department of War expired at 11:59 p.m. EST on September 30, 2025. Military personnel will continue in a normal duty status without pay until such time as a continuing resolution or appropriations are passed by Congress and signed into law. Civilian personnel not engaged in excepted activities will be placed in a non-work, non-pay status.

Technical Sergeant Pat Chapman

Technical Sgt. Pat Chapman is a percussionist with the Ceremonial Brass. Originally from Clover, South Carolina, he joined the United States Air Force Band in 2024.

Before joining the Air Force, Sgt. Chapman served as the principal percussionist of the Billings Symphony Orchestra and performed with the Phoenix, Tucson, and Baltimore Symphony Orchestras. He also performed with the Cavaliers Drum & Bugle Corps in 2009.

Sgt. Chapman holds a Professional Studies Certificate from the Colburn School, a Master of Music degree in percussion performance from Long Beach State University, and a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of South Carolina. His primary teachers include Ted Atkatz, Shaun Tilburg, Matt Pendergast, Dr. Michael Compitello, and Dr. Scott Herring.
