Technical Sergeant Michael Romans

Technical Sgt. Michael Romans is a violinist with the Air Force Strings. Originally from Springfield, Virginia, he joined The United States Air Force Band in 2024.

Prior to joining the Air Force, Sgt. Romans was a core member of the Virginia Symphony Orchestra, concertmaster of the Adrian Symphony Orchestra, and section violinist in the Ann Arbor and Lansing Symphony Orchestras.

Sgt. Romans has appeared in music festivals across the country as well as internationally. He was co-concertmaster of the Aspen Conducting Academy Orchestra and the National Repertory Orchestra. Other notable festival appearances include performances in Carnegie Hall for the 50th anniversary of the New York String Orchestra, Sarasota Music Festival and Schleswig- Holstein Musik Festival.

Sgt. Romans earned his Doctorate in violin performance at the University of Michigan where he served as a graduate student instructor under the guidance of Fabiola Kim and Danielle Belen. In 2020, he earned his Masters of Music from U of M as a recipient of a full merit scholarship. He also holds a Bachelor’s degree from Indiana University with degrees in violin performance from the Jacobs School of Music and business studies from the Kelley School of Business.
