Technical Sgt. Max Crofton is a tubist with the Ceremonial Brass. Originally from Murray, Kentucky, his career with the Air Force began in 2020 with the Band of Mid America at Scott Air Force Base, Illinois where he was a member of the Concert Band, Ceremonial Band, and Airlifter Brass Quintet. He joined The United States Air Force Band in Washington in 2023.
Prior to joining the Air Force, Technical Sgt. Crofton performed with the Round Top Festival, Disneyland All-American College Band, Kentucky Intercollegiate Band and National Intercollegiate Band. Furthermore, he was honored to become the first tubist to win the Paducah Symphony Orchestra (Kentucky) Concerto Competition in 2016, affording him the opportunity to solo with the orchestra that same year. Technical Sgt. Crofton is also an active teacher and has held positions at Indiana University and Lincoln Trail College in Illinois. Since joining the Air Force, he has had the privilege of performing and teaching all over the country; one of his greatest memories was performing at the 2022 Rose Bowl Parade to celebrate the Air Force’s 75th anniversary.
Technical Sgt. Crofton holds a Master of Music degree from Indiana University, a Bachelor of Music Education degree from Murray State University and is currently a doctoral candidate at Indiana University. He has been mentored by esteemed teachers such as Dan Perantoni and Ray Conklin.
