Airman 1st Class Daniel St. John

A1C Daniel R. St. John is a bassoonist at the Band of Mid-America, Scott Air Force Base, Illinois. He performs with the concert band, the ceremonial band, and the Midwest Winds wind quintet.

A1C St. John is a bassoonist from San Diego, California. He earned his Bachelor of Music degree in Bassoon Performance in 2021 from the CSULB Bob Cole Conservatory of Music and then his Master of Music degree in Bassoon Performance in 2023 from the USC Thornton School of Music. While he was in California, Daniel studied with Los Angeles Philharmonic second bassoonist Michele Grego and Associate Principal bassoonist Shawn Mouser.

Prior to his service in the Air Force, A1C St. John spent his time as a bassoon coach for local schools and played in numerous recording gigs, festivals, and orchestras including the Bakersfield Symphony Orchestra, Santa Monica Symphony Orchestra, and the American Youth Symphony as a contrabassoonist.
