Dalton Tran is a clarinetist with the United States Band of the West in San Antonio, Texas. A Southern California native, Dalton received his Bachelors and Masters in Clarinet Performance from the University of California, Los Angeles, where he studied with Gary Gray (Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra), Steven Barta (Baltimore Symphony Orchestra), and Boris Allakhverdyan (Los Angeles Philharmonic). He has performed with the Pacific Symphony, Bakersfield Symphony, and Debut Chamber Orchestra. In 2018, Dalton, along with the UCLA Wind Ensemble, joined the Los Angeles Philharmonic in a rare performance of Leonard Bernstein’s MASS for the composer’s centennial. A1C Tran enjoyed his solo professional debut with the Band of the West in 2022, performing Artie Shaw’s Clarinet Concerto at the Texas Bandmasters Association concert. With the Mission Winds Clarinet Quartet, he has performed in Puerto Rico, Georgia, Oklahoma, and Texas. In his free time, Dalton enjoys spending time with his dog Carmella, indoor rock-climbing, and trying all the food and drink San Antonio has to offer.
