Technical Sergeant Michael Aiello

Technical Sgt. Michael Aiello is a baritone vocalist with the Singing Sergeants. Originally from Buffalo, New York, he joined The United States Air Force Band in 2022.

Prior to joining the Air Force, Sgt. Aiello enjoyed a career teaching in higher education and also performed with regional opera companies such as: Aspen Opera Theater, San Diego Opera, Opera Philadelphia, Buffalo Opera, and Syracuse Opera. Some of his featured roles include: the title roles in Mozart’s Don Giovanni, and Stephen Sondheim’s Sweeney Todd, Marcello in Puccini’s La Boheme, John Cree in Kevin Put’s Elizabeth Cree, and Dandini in Rossini’s La Cenerentola. He has also appeared as a concert soloist in Handel’s Messiah, Monteverdi’s Vespro della Beata Vergine, Faure’s Requiem and Haydn’s The Seasons with, the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra, Western NY Chamber Orchestra, Eastman Symphony Orchestra, St. Paul’s Cathedral in San Diego, CA, the Cathedral of the Madeleine in Salt Lake City, UT and St. John’s Episcopal Cathedral in Denver, CO. He was a past winner of the Rossini Award from the Palm Spring’s Opera Guild Vocal Competition and was a finalist in the prestigious Lotte Lenya Vocal Competition.

Sgt. Aiello was the recipient of the Renee Fleming Endowed Scholarship from the Eastman School of Music where he received a Doctorate of Musical Arts degree. Aiello also holds a Master of Music degree from the University of Colorado at Boulder, and a Bachelor of Music degree from the State University of New York at Fredonia.
