Technical Sgt. Megan Elks is the baritone saxophonist with the Concert Band. Originally from Lumberton, North Carolina, she joined The United States Air Force Band in 2022.
Prior to joining the Air Force, Sgt. Elks maintained an active private studio in Austin, Texas, while pursuing a Master of Music from the University of Texas at Austin. She has performed at conferences including the Splice Festival, the International Composers Symposium, the International Navy Band Symposium, and the North American Saxophone Alliance Conference. Additionally, she has performed as a soloist with the University of Texas Wind Ensemble in the premier of Roger Briggs’ Concerto for Saxophone Quartet and Wind Ensemble. Her chamber ensembles have advanced in competitions including the North American Saxophone Alliance Quartet Competition and the Fischoff National National Chamber Music Competition.
Sgt. Elks holds a Bachelor of Music from the University of Georgia and a Master of Music from the University of Texas at Austin, as well as a certificate in arts management and cultural entrepreneurship. Her former teachers include Taimur Sullivan, Connie Frigo, and Stephen Page.
