Technical Sgt. Joshua Blumenthal is a hornist with the Ceremonial Brass. Originally from Naperville, Illinois, he began his Air Force Career with the Band of Mid America at Scott Air Force Base, Illinois in 2021 and joined The United States Air Force Band in 2023.
Prior to joining the Air Force, TSgt Blumenthal served four years as co-principal horn in the Hyogo Performing Arts Center Orchestra based in Nishinomiya, Japan. Additionally, he has performed with the North Carolina Symphony, North Carolina Ballet, Virginia Symphony, Orchestra Ensemble Kanazawa and Japan Century Orchestra. He was a member of the Daraja Ensemble, the graduate fellowship woodwind quintet at the University of Maryland from 2015-2017. TSgt Blumenthal has also participated in the Pacific Music Festival, Chautauqua Music Festival, Bowdoin International Music Festival and the Hot Springs Music Festival.
TSgt. Blumenthal received his Bachelor of Music from Boston University, Master of Music from New England Conservatory, and Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Maryland. His primary teachers include Eric Ruske, Richard ‘Gus’ Sebring and Gregory Miller.
