Staff Sergeant (SSgt) Evan Drumm is a trombonist with the United States Air Force Band of the West at Joint Base San Antonio Lackland, Texas. SSgt Drumm earned a Bachelor of Instrumental Music Education (2017) and Master of Music in Jazz Studies and Music Production (2019) from the University of Central Oklahoma where his primary teachers were Jeff Kidwell and Lee Rucker.
Before starting his Air Force Career, SSgt Drumm was an active performer and educator in the Oklahoma City area. He has performed with The Temptations, Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons, the Oklahoma City Jazz Orchestra, and the Dirty River Jazz Band. He also serves as principal trombonist with the Fountain City Brass Band, with whom he has won three North American Brass Band Association (NABBA) championships. Drumm was a finalist in the American Trombone Workshop’s National Jazz Solo Competition in 2020 and in 2018 won the Monterey Next Generation Jazz Festival collegiate jazz ensemble division while simultaneously selected for an “Outstanding Soloist” award.
