Senior Airman Max Crofton is a tubist with the United States Air Force Band of Mid-America, where he performs in the Concert Band, Ceremonial Band, and Airlifter Brass Quintet.
SrA Crofton holds a Master of Music Degree from Indiana University, a Bachelor of Music Education Degree from Murray State University and is currently a Doctoral Candidate at Indiana University. His primary teachers include Dan Perantoni and Ray Conklin.
As a performer, SrA Crofton has won/advanced in many competitions. In the Summer of 2019, he served as the principal tuba of the Round Top Festival Institute in Round Top, Texas; in the summer of 2018, he served as principal tuba for the Disneyland All-American College Band in Anaheim, California. In 2017, SrA Crofton was the principal tubist for the Kentucky Intercollegiate Band and was also selected to perform in the National Intercollegiate Band that same year. SrA Crofton won the 2016 Paducah Symphony Orchestra (KY) Concerto Competition, allowing him to solo with the Orchestra that same year; he was also a semi-finalist in the 2016 ITEC Mock Band Competition in Knoxville, TN. SrA Crofton has performed with the Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra (IN), Terre Haute Symphony Orchestra (IN), Columbus Symphony Orchestra (IN), Paducah Symphony Orchestra (KY), and the U.S. Air Force Concert Band (D.C.).
As a teacher, SrA Crofton’s collegiate teaching experience includes serving as Associate Instructor in the Music Education and Brass Department at Indiana University, an Adjunct Professor of Music at Lincoln Trail College (IL), as well as giving masterclasses to various programs throughout the United States.
