The most recent appropriations for the Department of War expired at 11:59 p.m. EST on September 30, 2025. Military personnel will continue in a normal duty status without pay until such time as a continuing resolution or appropriations are passed by Congress and signed into law. Civilian personnel not engaged in excepted activities will be placed in a non-work, non-pay status.

Technical Sergeant Alison Miserendino

Technical Sgt. Alison Miserendino is a euphoniumist with the Concert Band. A native of Burke, Virginia, she joined The Air Force Band in 2020 as a member of the Ceremonial Brass.

An accomplished soloist, Sgt. Miserendino has received several international accolades. In 2010, she was the winner of The United States Air Force Band’s own George S. Howard Young Artist Competition. Additionally, she was runner-up in the International Women’s Brass Conference’s Mock Audition competition in 2014, and in 2016, she was awarded a Bronze Medal in the Artist Division of the Leonard Falcone International Euphonium Competition.

Sgt. Miserendino completed her Bachelor of Music degree in music education in 2013 at The University of North Texas, and continued on to earn dual Masters Degrees in music education and euphonium performance in 2016. Her most influential teachers are Jennifer Cox, Roger Behrend, and Dr. Brian Bowman.
