Senior Airman Sarah Smelser is a clarinetist with the USAF Band of Mid-America and Liberty Winds. Originally from Austin, Texas, A1C Sarah Smelser joined the Air Force Band of Mid-America in 2019. She attended The University of Texas at Austin from 2012-2016 and received a Bachelor of Music in Clarinet Performance. She also holds a Masters of Music in Clarinet Performance from Northwestern University, where she studied with Steve Cohen, Laurie Bloom, and Leslie Grimm.
Smelser has performed at Chautauqua Music Festival and the Brevard Institute and in 2018, she went on a 7 day tour of China and Hong Kong with the Northwestern University Symphony Orchestra. When she’s not making music, she enjoys spending time with her cats and crafting.
