SSgt Michael Havens is a guitarist at the Band of Mid America, Scott Air Force Base, IL. In addition to being the guitarist in the rock band, Roots in Blue, he serves as the operations representative for the group. He also leads the group’s jazz trio.
SSgt Havens joined the Air Force band in 2017 after graduating from the University of North Florida, where he earned a degree in Jazz Studies. He was first assigned to the Band of the Golden west, Travis AFB, CA. There he performed in jazz band, concert band, and rock band, as well as many combo and solo performances. Additionally, he served as a supply clerk, unit Vehicle Control Officer, and as the operations representative for their rock band, Mobility. In Jan 2024 he relocated to Scott AFB, IL.
